The people must protest, but in a peaceful way, leaders of the protesting parties said in the talk show “Politics” on TV 7 channel, IPN reports.
The leader of the Political Party “Our Party” Renato Usatyi said the protests mounted in front of the Parliament Building represent a reaction of the people who were again betrayed. “Pavel Filip, if he had been honest, would have come out before the crowd, apologized and renounced the seat. I was phoned by U.S. Ambassador James Pettit, who invited me to a discussion with Speaker Andrian Candu. I don’t know if I will go yet,” stated the politician.
The chairman of the Party of Socialists Igor Dodon called on the people to protest calmly. “The developments were predictable, but we must avoid using violence. We must protest peacefully until we obtain early parliamentary elections. We should unite out efforts, regardless of our political color, and have a civilized political struggle in the electoral period. I hope more people will come to protest. I was phoned by Andrian Candu, who invited me to a meeting in the morning of January 21. I will discuss only the dismissal of Parliament and the early elections,” he stated.
Igor Grosu, one of the members of the initiative group of the party that is being built by Maia Sandu, said the people were provoked by the MPs’ behavior. “Their behavior is inadmissible. It is hard to say what will happen next if they continue in the same way,” he stated.
Andrei Nastase, the leader of the Civic Platform “Dignity and Truth” and of the party with the same name, accused the MPs of what is going on. “Serious things happen. The police attacked the crowd. We protested peacefully, but they advanced on us. The Ministry of the Interior will have to provide explanations. I call on the people to protest peacefully until the oligarchic government falls,” he stated.
In the same program, Anatol Taranu, director of the Center for Political Research and Constancy “Politicon”, said the current government will be remembered for bringing together sympathizers of political parties from the left and the right at a common protest.
