A runoff vote will be held in Topala village of Cimislia district on July 12. The Central Election Commission (CEC) adopted a decision to this effect in its July 3 meeting. The elections in Topala were rerun on June 28, after the voting process on June 14 was stopped following the devastation of the polling place by election runners, IPN reports.

CEC president Iurie Ciocan said a vote recount was asked in Topala because one of the candidates polled exactly 50% of the ballot and he was one vote short for winning the elections. The situation after the recount didn’t change.

The candidates on the ballot will be written according to the number of votes won on June 28, in descending order. If one of the candidates withdraws, the next candidate who gained the largest number of votes enters the competition.
