The second report on the implementation of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization, prepared by the Moldovan authorities, was taken to Brussels by Deputy Prime Minister Iurie Leanca, Info-Prim Neo reports.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Iurie Leanca had a meeting with European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmstrom, who approved of the pace at which the Action Plan is implemented and of the organization of the internal permanent monitoring process.
The European Commission plans to publish the second progress report on the implementation of the first set of conditions of the Action Plan in December.
Cecilia Malmstrom said the EU member states and the European Parliament at the beginning of next year will discuss Moldova’s preparedness to start implementing the second stage of the Action Plan on Visa Liberalization.
Also at the start of next year, the Commission intends to finish the study of the migration impact on the Moldovan citizens when the visa regime is liberalized.
The officials also discussed the good cooperation relations in the field of migration. The European Commissioner said the results achieved in implementing the Mobility Partnership contributed to the extension of this cooperation model to other EaP counties.
