President Igor Dodon and Prime Minister Pavel Filip addressed congratulatory messages to the U.S. President on the occasion of his inauguration, IPN reports.

“In the name of the people of the Republic of Moldova and in my name, I sincerely and cordially congratulate you on your inauguration as President of the United States of America. I use this nice occasion to reiterate my country’s increased interest in developing the traditional relations of friendship and cooperation between Moldova and the U.S. and in intensifying the bilateral dialogue in different areas, for the benefit of our countries and peoples,” says Igor Dodon’s message.

For his part, the Premier expressed his conviction that Donald Trump’s professional experience and managerial skills will help ensure the United Sates remains a world leader. He noted that the Moldovan authorities are for maintaining the bilateral strategic partnership, as it was during the last 25 years.

“During the bilateral friendship, the Unites States served as an example of liberty, justice and international solidarity for many Moldovans. These are values that our citizens and the government coalition pledged to promote in the Republic of Moldova as well,” reads the Premier’s message.

Pavel Filip said the Republic of Moldova remains a stable and reliable partner of the Unites States and the Moldovan authorities concentrated their efforts on implementing reforms for modernizing and developing the country. “We appreciate, in particular, the support offered by the United States of America in ensuring the country’s territorial integrity and the peaceful settlement of the Transnistrian conflict. In 2017, we will celebrate 25 years of Moldovan – American diplomatic relations and consider this is a good occasion for setting new ambitious cooperation objectives for the future,” says the message.
