The Russian Federation helped the recently convicted MP Alexandr Nesterovski to evade prison. A day before the sentence was pronounced, he went to the Russian Embassy in Chisinau from where he was later transported to the left bank of the Nistru, Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) chief Alexandru Musteața announced, quoted by IPN.
According to SIS data, on March 18, the day before the sentence was pronounced, Alexandr Nesterovski entered the precincts of the Russian Embassy in Chisinau.
The next day, he was transported by a car with a diplomatic registration plate to the Transnistrian region, where he is under the direct protection of the Russian intelligence services.
MP Alexandr Nesterovski was sentenced to 12 years in a closed prison and fined 500,000 lei. The judgement was given on March 19 by the Buiucani Court of Chisinau City in his absence. Nesterovski was found guilty of passive corruption in particularly large proportions, in the interest of an organized criminal group, and of preparing the financing of political parties from sources prohibited by law.
