The Party of Socialists’ candidates in the early mayoral elections in the municipalities of Chisinau and Balti could be announced this Sunday. Socialist MP Vlad Batrincea, in the program “Direct access” on NTV Moldova channel, said the party’s National Council will have a meeting on March 18 to decide the candidates, IPN reports.
According to him, the Socialists set the goal of winning the elections in both of the municipalities. “It is very important for the people to see the long-awaited change at the Chisinau City Hall first of all. We will have powerful candidates in Chisinau and in Balti too and will make every effort to win in both of the cities,” stated Vlad Batrincea.
The MP noted they consider the Liberal Party does not have the moral right to run in the mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality, given the work done by Dorin Chirtoaca as mayor. As regards an eventual common candidate of a number of parties of the right, Vlad Batrincea said the only goal of these parties is to prevent the Party of Socialists from winning the mayoralty and they do not lay emphasis on a healthy electoral program.
The MP underlined that the Party of Socialists has the biggest chances of winning the mayoral elections in Chisinau municipality.
