Speaker Andrian Candu says the second Kroll report has clearly showed that the businessman Orhei Ilan Shor and his companies are the main beneficiaries of the infamous 2012-2014 bank fraud. Asked to comment on the findings, Candu told a press briefing that Ilan Shor will be criminally punished after the Court of Appeals pronounces an enforceable judgment.
The speaker thanked the Kroll team for authorizing the publishing of the report (albeit in an abridged form, and also after Candu leaked the first report in violation of the confidentiality clause).
“As I learned from the National Bank governor, the Kroll team will be here in mid January to discuss and elaborate on the matters contained in the report. As discussed with the prime minister, a strategy will be adopted around that time to regulate the recovery of fraudulent assets from abroad”, stated Andrian Candu.
The National Bank (NBM) published on Wednesday evening an abridged version of the second Kroll report, which, according to an NBM press release, reveals the way money was siphoned off from the Moldovan banking system as well as the countries where the money went.
