Sympathizers of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS), the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM) on May 31 protested in front of the Chisinau City Hall against the way in which the public contest to fill the post of head of the General Division of Education, Youth and Sport of the Municipal Council was held, IPN reports.

According to the protesters, the contest took place with violations of the regulations. At least three days before the contest, the announcement about the contest should have been placed on the City Hall’s website. After the PAS leader Maia Sandu warned publicly about this, the City Hall published the announcement, but antedated this May 28.

Maia Sandu requested the municipal authorities to suspend the contest because of the committed illegality. “We demand that the process should be transparent and that changes should be made to the regulations concerning the selection of the director of the Education Division so that the process is public, as in the case of the selection of education institution principals,” she stated. The politician noted that attempts are being made to name a controllable person who would exert pressure on teachers so that these bring benefits to the government in the parliamentary elections.
