Tiraspol extends state of emergency until May 9

Due to the energy crisis and reduced natural gas supplies, the Transnistrian region does not abandon the state of emergency. The emergency situation was extended until May 9, by the decision of the Transnistrian administration, IPN's correspondent in the region reports.

The extension of the state of emergency was approved at an extraordinary meeting of the so-called local parliament on Wednesday, on the initiative of the Transnistrian leader Vadim Kwasniewski. Official sources told the Agency's correspondent that the local elected officials voted unanimously to extend the state of emergency in the Transnistrian region.

The energy crisis continues due to the limitation of the volumes of gas delivered to the Transnistrian region and special measures are necessary to stabilize the socioeconomic situation, explained the Transnistria administration.

Thus, on May 9, the state of emergency on the left side of the Nistru will have lasted for four months. The state of emergency was first decreed on December 9, 2024 and has been extended for several time since then. Among the taken measures are the prohibition of energy exports, the restriction of financial transactions and movement of goods, the saving of energy resources in institutions and enterprises.
