Tiraspol refused to convene the first meeting of experts in the field of statistics. The Bureau for Reintegration Policies said that the refusal comes even after the issue was agreed on at the meeting of the chief negotiators on November 19, 2024 and later on April 8, 2025, in the presence of OSCE officials, IPN reports.
The Bureau noted that Tiraspol continues to obstruct the examination of topics of interest to the people living on the two sides of the Nistru River.
"Chisinau's proposal is aimed at initiating working discussions that would result in the adjustment of the methodology for collecting and processing statistical data throughout the country, according to the principles applicable in the European Union," reads a press release from the Bureau.
The need to convene sectoral working groups in the near future, with the participation of experts in statistics, education and healthcare from both banks of the Nistru, was discussed on April 8, at the Bender office of the OSCE Mission to Moldova.
