Valeriu Strelet: EBRD remains Moldova’s constant partner

Prime Minister Valeriu Strelet, in the meeting with a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), appreciated the Bank’s role in developing investment projects in Moldova. “We welcome the fact that the EBRD has financed over 100 projects in Moldova, with a budget of over €900 million. Thus, the EBRD remains Moldova’s constant partner,” stated the Premier, quoted by IPN.

The EBRD officials reiterated their readiness to support Moldova in promoting investments and to provide the consultancy needed to ensure economic development and to improve the business development conditions. “The EBRD will continue to cooperate with the Republic of Moldova, including for overcoming the difficult situation created in the banking sector,” said Francis Malige, Managing Director for Eastern Europe and the Caucasus.

The representatives of the Bank underlined the importance of the negotiations on the cooperation program between Moldova and the IMF and of strengthening the banking sector and ensuring the integrity of justice. The officials expressed the EBRD’s readiness to provide the necessary expertise and assistance.
