All the polling places available for voting in the mayoral runoffs in Chisinau municipality were opened without incidents, deputy head of the Chisinau District Electoral Council Ina Babin was quoted by IPN as saying in a press briefing.

According to Ina Babin, the voter turnout at 07:45am was: 1.09% in Botanica district, 1.07% in Centru district, 1.06% in Rascani district and by 1.04% in Ciocana and Buiucani districts. In the suburban communities, the turnout was 1.01%.

A number of 632 169 voters are expected to cast their ballots today. There is no minimum voter turnout required for the runoff vote to be validated

The competition for mayoralty involves the Party of Socialists’ candidate Ion Ceban and the candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” Andrei Nastase. Polling places work from 7am until 9pm.
