Youngest elected mayor is 25, oldest is 69
The youngest mayor elected in the recent local elections is 25 years old and is a member of the Liberal Party; Alexei Bosneaga was elected mayor in Chisinau's suburban village of Condrita, Info-Prim Neo learned from the Central Election Commission (CEC).
By law, 25 years is the lowest admissible age for a mayoral candidate.
At the opposite pole is Democrat Gheorghe Saracovici, who is 69 years old and was elected mayor in Iurceni village, Nisporeni district.
According to CEC data, around 7% of the freshly elected mayors are aged between 25 and 35 years, and about 5.7 % are aged 60 or older.
By number of female mayors, the Liberal-Democratic Party is the leader, with 52; followed by the Communist Party, with 46 women mayors; the Democratic Party, with 39; and the Liberal Party, with 15. Of the total 897 freshly elected mayors, 166 are women.
