Three of the candidates for mayor general of Chisinau municipality presented their solutions to the problem of illegal constructions in the capital city. In debates on PRO TV Chisinau channel, these proposed solutions ranging from inventorying to demolition, IPN reports.
The common candidate of the Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” and the Party “Action and Solidarity” Andrei Nastase said that if he is elected mayor, he will conduct an inventorying to see how many illegal constructions are there in the city. He will also hold public discussions with the business community and experts to think up the general urban development plan and will introduce an electronic system for issuing building authorizations and urbanism certificates. “We will launch a massive program for delimiting, registering and assessing all the buildings managed by the municipality. Reviewing all the leases is the last but one measure that should be taken. When we check the legality of all these, we will go and demolish the illegal constructions,” stated Nastase.
The candidate of the Party “Our Home Moldova” Alexandr Roshko said the illegal constructions should be within the responsibility of such bodies as the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Anticorruption Center and a new general urban development plan should be adopted to prevent the appearance of such buildings. “Furthermore, all the illegal constructions should be demolished at the expense of the municipal authorities,” he noted.
The Party of Socialists’ candidate for mayoralty Ion Ceban said electronic public tender contests should be held to sell any plot of land. The municipal property should be delimited as the relevant decision taken by the Chisinau Municipal Council is not respected. All the green areas should be delimited and the general and zonal urban plans should be worked out. “We will intervene administratively so that authorizations are no longer issued in breach of the urban planning norms, for erecting in yards of apartment buildings, on the periphery, near green areas and in many other places,” stated the aspirant.
