A group of Christian Orthodox priests and parishioners made a call to the people to take part in the November 30 elections, no matter what political orientation they have. In a news conference at IPN, the priests called upon the voters to support the political force that really promotes the values of Orthodoxy.
“Time has come to pronounce and to urge the people to leave the concerns and fear aside and to cast their ballots,” said priest Ioan Grigoras, who was a member of Parliament between 1990 and 1994. He noted that all the Christians must analyze things and take a correct decision as to the road that leads to life. The quality of this road depends on everyone’s choice.
Priest Vitalii Sincari urged the people to take a wise decision for the benefit of the country and the people and to remain Christian in this act. “Each Christian must realize that the heart can be given only to God, not yet to those who are against God. Let this be the main criterion for those who will go to the polls. We are all free and the Church cannot and should not advise someone how to vote. Our parishioners support all kinds of social and political movements. The Church is open to everyone,” he stated.
“Dear Christians, God give us peace and unity. Where there is Jesus Christ, there is unity. God help us all!” said priest Oleg Secarin.
Parishioner Mihai Balica said that he fears the possible developments and thus came to deliver the following message: “We want a power that will serve the interests of everyone and will support our faith to come after November 30. It is what we received from our ancestors and we must value our faith and transmit it further, from generation to generation.”
Several days ago, His Holiness Vladimir, the Metropolitan Bishop of Chisinau and All Moldova, made a similar call to the people, urging them to be responsible and to exercise their right to vote on November 30.
