Gheorghe Vita asserts that he is blackmailed

The candidate for a seat in the Parliament of Romanian Gheorghe Vita announced that he is threatened and blackmailed by his opponent Eugen Tomac so that he withdraws from the electoral race, Info-Prim Neo reports. Gheorghe Vita told a news conference the information that he decided to quit, which appeared on social networking sites, represents misinformation and manipulation of the voters in Moldova. “I heard recently that I refuse to have televised debates with Mister Eugen Tomac. This is not true. I twice announced publicly that I’m ready to have a televised debate with Mister Eugen Tomac anytime. Today I also invite him to such a debate so that he has the courage to speak in a civilized and democratic way, as they do in the Western states, if he did so many things for the Romanians from Bessarabia during four years. The voters will then decide who should enter the Parliament of Romania,” said Gheorghe Vita. He also said that besides Eugen Tomac, behind the threats there are public figures that are well-known in Moldova. The names of these persons will be made public after the legislative elections of Romania, after which Gheorghe Vita intends to file a complaint to the law enforcement bodies and inform about the multiple blackmail acts against him. The MP said that he is daily blackmailed by phone calls and through social networking sites, but this will not make him abandon the race. Gheorghe Vita stated that his withdrawal from the electoral race would disappoint the thousands of Moldovans who are ready to vote for him on December 9.
