The Government assumed political responsibility for a number of bills important for society that were blocked by parliamentary commissions. The assumption of political responsibility means that the executive took the decision by itself and the laws will take effect without the Parliament’s vote. At the beginning of the Government’s extraordinary meeting, Prime Minister Iurie Leanca said that it was imperative to find solutions for the given laws to be implemented, IPN reports.

The Government assumed political responsibility for the bills needed to continue the reforms in the justice sector, including the initiatives on the deprivation of judges of immunity, disciplinary punishment for judges and the liquidation of the Bender Appeals Court. The last bill was adopted by Parliament in the first reading.

The executive also assumed political responsibility for the adjustment of the state budget and the social insurance budget. “We reached the conclusion that as long as the economic growth does not affect people’s lives, it does not bring the necessary satisfaction. We must raise the salaries, allowances and pensions,” stated Iurie Leanca.

He also said that solutions must be found to support the local producers that will be affected by the ban on the import of Moldovan fruit and vegetables into Russia. A campaign to support the agricultural producers should be launched, which would also promote a healthy lifestyle. For example, the children in kindergartens and schools and the young people doing their military service should be provided with an apple a day. This way, diseases will be combated and the national products will be promoted.

If Parliament afterward votes against at least one of the bills for which the Government assumed political responsibility, the executive will have to resign.
