National Reunification Platform launched

The Union Hall of the former building of the People’s Council, the place where the union of Bessarabia with Romania was voted in March 1918, hosted the launch of the National Reunification Platform. The event in Chisinau has a double significance as it took place within the celebration of 107 years since the union of Bessarabia with Romania. The platform aims to "strengthen the Romanian identity of the Republic of Moldova and prepare the ground for the political reunification of the Romanian nation on both banks of the Prut," IPN reports.

The event brought together over 200 participants, who declared themselves founders of the National Reunification Platform. The initiators aim to turn the Platform into a factor of cohesion of the unionist forces and a counterweight to the influences that try to weaken the historical ties between the Republic of Moldova and Romania.

The platform will be based on a political and electoral project that aims to ensure the access of a significant unionist group to the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova. The ultimate goal is, according to the founders, to provide state policies favorable to the Romanian identity, in parallel with the strengthening of the European course through integration with Romania.

The participants in the launch of the platform adopted the "Manifesto of National Reunification", which sets out the strategic principles and objectives for the unification of the Republic of Moldova with Romania.

Also, the governing bodies were appointed, including the Coordinating Council, responsible for managing the daily activity of the Platform. Given the upcoming parliamentary elections, the participants agreed to convene a congress where to compile and approve the Single Unionist Electoral List.
