President Maia Sandu described Russia's interference in Moldovan justice as unacceptable, accusing Moscow of unfriendly actions through its embassy in Chisinau. The statements were made in a program on Radio Moldova after the Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) reported that convicted MP Alexandr Nesterovski reached the Transnistrian region with the help of the Embassy of Russia, IPN reports.

"This is not the first experience of the kind. We have many examples when the Russian Federation, in many cases through the involvement of the embassy, takes unfriendly measures in relation to Moldova. In this case, it goes to the Russian Federation's interference in justice, which is unacceptable. Imagine that the Republic of Moldova would get involved in the administration of justice in the Russian Federation. These are ugly things that do not contribute to a fair relationship with Russia," said Maia Sandu.

The Moldovan authorities requested the separatist regime to facilitate the transportation of MP Nesterovski to the right bank of the Nistru.

"Our institutions have no information about the involvement of those in Tiraspol, but obviously, now the regime there is involved. The Government requested that the person concerned be transported to the right bank so that he could be punished in accordance with the judge's decision. It will not be simple as the regime in Tiraspol still has a close relationship with Russia and will try to avoid handing over this character," said Pesident Sandu.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova on Monday issued a note by which three employees of the Embassy of Russia in Chisinau were declared personae non gratae. The Moldovan authorities’ decision is based on clear evidence that activities contrary to the diplomatic status were carried out on the territory of the Republic of Moldova.
