Prosecutors present evidence in case involving MP Tauber and former Shor Party

Anticorruption prosecutors fully presented the prosecution's evidence in the case that involves MP Marina Tauber and the former Shor Party. It goes to four counts for falsifying reports on the financing of the election campaign and the political party and for accepting illegal financing from an organized criminal group, IPN reports.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office (APO) said that the case in which Marina Tauber is accused of interference in the administration of justice was connected to this case.

The criminal case was sent to court in June 2023. According to the APO, during a year and nine months, 103 court hearings were held and more than 40 witnesses were questioned. There were examined 67 volumes of material evidence.

The evidence of the defense is to be examined.

According to the evidential basis, Marina Tauber, running as a candidate designated by the Shor Party in the November 21, 2021 mayoral election in Balti municipality, in the election campaign prior to the election, intentionally and in prior agreement with the party's treasurer, acting at the instigation of and in strict coordination with the organized criminal group led by Ilan Shor, received 9.7 million lei, of which the amount of 740,000 lei was falsely indicated as donations made by 104 individuals who in reality did not donate.

Last summer, Marina Tauber was banned from leaving the country in the case of illegal financing of political parties, in which the MP was charged. The measure was maintained until the end of the year. On January 7 this year, Tauber left the Republic of Moldova through the Chisinau International Airport by a flight to Istanbul, Turkey.
