The political situation in the country did not stabilize following the election of the head of state. The political and social crisis did not disappear. On the contrary, after March 16 the country was shaken by a new wave of odious political and social repression, the leader of the Communist Party Vladimir Voronin said in a news conference, quoted by Info-Prim Neo. “What we see today is a conclusive proof of the fact that the main source of the crisis did not reside in the non-election of the President. It resided in the government’s inability to rule the country,” he stated. According to Vladimir Voronin, the ruling alliance promotes projects that are not of vital importance for society. “The twofold increase in the lawmakers’ pay, the privatization of the Parliament’s garage, the purchase of limousines for the senior officials are among these projects. Did they look for a head of state for three years for such acts?” he asked. The Communist leader said that the authorities violated the right to the freedom of expression by withdrawing the broadcasting license of the TV channel NIT. He criticized the report that Vlad Filat is to present in Parliament on April 27, saying the Premier intends to boast about the results achieved during the Communist rule. Asked if the Communist faction will return to Parliament, Vladimir Voronin said that the Communist MPs cannot allow the flagrant violation of the Constitution, but being absent from the sittings does not mean that they do not enquire about the adopted bills. Vladimir Voronin also said that six members of the Communist parliamentary group are pressed into leavening the party by certain persons. Commenting on the Communist leader’s statement, Head of Parliament Marian Lupu said that they did not discuss the purchase of new cars for the senior officials within the ruling alliance and that he knows nothing about the six Communist lawmakers who are pressurized.
